GOTHAM GRADES is an independent, non-official website that presents publicly available New York City restaurant health inspection data (sourced from NYC Open Data / the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene) in an easier-to-browse map, search, and profile-page format. It is not operated by, affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the City of New York, DOHMH, or any city agency in any way.

2. No account, no purchase

You don't need to create an account to use this site, and there's nothing to buy. Some features (like pinning places) simply use your browser's own local storage — see our Privacy Policy for how that works.

3. Data accuracy — please read this section

All inspection grades, dates, violation descriptions, addresses, and related information displayed on this site are pulled directly from NYC's public open-data feeds. We do not independently verify, edit, or curate this data. That means:

• Information may be delayed, incomplete, or occasionally inconsistent with the city's own official records.
• A business's actual current condition may differ from what's shown if an inspection or update hasn't been published yet.
• This site should not be treated as the authoritative or final word on a business's health and safety status — if that matters for a specific decision, verify directly with the City of New York.

GOTHAM GRADES is provided for general informational and convenience purposes only, and is not a substitute for official government sources, professional advice, or your own judgment.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use automated tools to scrape, mirror, or bulk-download the site in a way that degrades service for other visitors;
• Misrepresent data from this site as official City of New York communications or records;
• Use the site to harass, defame, or make false claims about any business; or
• Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the site or its underlying services.

5. Intellectual property

The design, layout, code, and original written content of GOTHAM GRADES belong to its operator. The underlying inspection data itself is public information published by the City of New York and is not owned by us.
